Best for winter and rain – This is perfect. The key thing when it comes to dealing with rain is channeling the water properly away. With traditional balaclavas you create an entry point for rain to get in and under your waterproof jacket around the neck area when you tuck the balaclava in. This is what happened to me on a recent trip and I was wondering if there was away to have two layers, a warmer inner layer and a lightweight water proof out layer that sites outside on top one the collar and well Alpinestar made it. This thing has two layers and it is designed right. You can breath easy with it I haven’t tested it in rain yet. The head area is super snug just like it is supposed to and it is thin light weight material so it doesn’t causes an issue when wearing the helmet in fact it makes it sliding it on and off easy.

However the first time I tried it on it was so tightly stitched together it ripped a seem. It would be nice if the product had a little more give, typically Alpinestars creates a very high quality product.

Small enough that it would only fit a small child. – I don’t know what they were thinking when they made this so small. I couldn’t get it over my head. At all. Not even close. Don’t waste your time with this.

Will fog up your glasses if you breathe through your nose – I was really excited to get this, my current neck guard doesn’t keep my face warm when the wind gets up in my helmet, this works well but if you wear glasses while riding you’ll have to uncover your nose or they will fog up even while moving. It also restricts your neck movement a little.
