Perfect for creating canoe tiedown attachment points under a camper shell – I got these to cow-hitch one end through the steel D-rings that are bolted into the four inside corners of the sidewalls of my pickup bed — to then run the straps under the edge of my cab-high camper shell to the outside. This creates exterior loops at the base of the shell for ratchet-strap hooks to connect to for securing a canoe to the top of the camper and truck-cab (the shell and cab do not have roof racks). This system is much easier then fiddling around with attachment points on the chassis. The shell is clamped down right next to where the straps extend underneath. The “depth” profile of the straps, even though they are stitched four-layers thick at the centers, is a low enough that the rubber weather-stripping between the shell and side rail still seals snugly — with no water seeping through on any of my big rainstorm drives to date.
