Loud enough to wake a heavy sleeper! – I bought this 6 months ago after my bike had been messed with a few times (saddle bags stolen, side panels removed). I live in an apartment and park the bike in a spot behind the building. Last night, the alarm went off in the middle of the night and it was both loud enough to wake me up (I’m a very heavy sleeper) and scare off whoever was trying to take the cover off. I just hope I didn’t wake up any neighbors.

Not portable – This device in theory is a nice idea but in practice not so much. There is a little switch on the side that when flipped sounds the alarm. I see now practical use for having that switch. The pin when pulled sounds the alarm and the alarm does not stop until you put the pin back in. Great idea in concept but if you walk away from your covered bike and someone tampers with it, that alarm goes off and does not stop or notify you the alarm is going off. If you are in the grocery store and elsewhere, you won’t hear it and the people on the street will for the next hour or so that you are away. Additionally, don’t even think about putting it in a bag to transport it. One small movement and that pin is out and your bag is screaming at you in the middle of the CVS while everyone looks on in terror. Allegedly. I wouldn’t waste you money on it, just get a XENA brake disc lock which turns off after a set amount of time and waits for movement to go off again. Paired with a GPS tracker and a good front disc lock as well and you’ll be good.

Good product. – Works well on many applications from vehicle covers to trailers, vehicles etc.

    4. O. A (verified owner)

A good idea, but has a drawback….. – The alarm is fairly loud. I tried it in my apartment and it’s enough to get your ears ringing if you’re exposed to the noise long enough. It’s for use with Dowco covers (to place in the pockets on the inside of the cover), but i’m sure one could engineer a way to use it, even if you don’t have a Dowco cover. This is how it works: It has a tether strap with a hook on one end and a metal pin on the other. You put the alarm unit somewhere stable and then you attach the hook to something on the motorcycle. The metal pin goes into the alarm unit. When someone lifts the cover, the tether strap gets disconnected from the alarm unit – alarm goes off. To turn the alarm off, you put the pin back into the alarm unit.

So simple, yet so effective! – So simple, yet so effective. This alarm takes one 9V battery and is purely a “switch” in that removal of the pin makes noise. And it is very loud. Not like a police car, absolutely not, those are meant to work at very long distances. And maybe a little more quiet than a car alarm as well, but the noise is in proportion to what one would need for protecting a motorcycle and definitely extremely loud for its size and startling. Much more than adequate!
