Look great on. Nightmare to install! – Bought these to cut down on the heat hitting my upper legs in the Nor-Cal heat! Thought they’d be installed in 30 mins or less, WRONG! the fit & finish of the heat deflectors is great! The nuts (2) and bolts they send are NOT! So, do yourself a favor and toss the hardware sent, go to a local hardware store and buy 2 5/16″ x18 speed nuts for the top mount (getting your fingers under the tank inside the frame is next to impossible!) then buy 2 5/16″ x18 x 3/4 rubber expanding nuts for the bottom mount (so you don’t have to unbolt your ECU on the clutch side to get your fingers in there). I bought four 5/16′ x18 x 1.25″ hex head bolts. This made the install much easier! I got tired of dropping nuts & bolts then having to fish them out from the top of the gearbox… And I’m a total DIY-er!

All good except hardware – They look great but really frustrating to install. The bottom expanding lock threaded piece is very cheap and spun inside the frame after install so if i ever need to remove it, then it’s gonna be a nightmare to get the bolt loose and then that expanding piece out of the frame. But otherwise they fit perfectly and look great plus way cheaper than the HD ones which are only flat black.

Pay attention to the year/model – I really liked the deflector. I read a lot of people having a hard time installing and I was already prepared to go buy some speed and well nuts, though, it seems that some year models are already prepared to receive the part. Mine is a 2021 RG and there is a thread built in the frame where I can screw the upper bolt. As for the lower bolt, there’s like a hex hole on the frame where you insert the nut that comes with the kit, just need a moderate pressure, I did it by hand. All and all moderately easy to install considering that the space to begin the thread on the upper bolt is tight. Great product.

Cheap hardware – The hardware included is not up to the task, one bolt insert slipped while installing it! I had to disassemble the whole left side to gain access and use pliers to hold the insert while loosening the bolt.

Easy install with right tools – Read other reviews about poor hardware so bought with caution. I thought luckily for me I have a 90deg rivnut tool that should work perfect…but when I went to use it I remembered that correct threaded insert tool was broke. Well have no fear, you can still install fairly easy if you follow a few simple tips. 1) use two washers under head for installation. 2) lube the washers and under the bolt head with grease or oil. 3) take your time and make sure you push the rivnut flush and don’t use power tools. They went in flawlessly. Four stars because there were ZERO installation instructions. This should be an easy DIY for most people…If they put simple instructions with it.

These are painted a gloss black – These heat deflectors are very nice. They match the factory paint. Highly recommend.
